Cabinet box construction
We build custom cabinets in the most common construction styles. Our primary construction method is European-style Frameless, and we also offer Face Frame and Inset cabinetry.
Below are the main basic cabinet configurations we offer. We can also manufacture other custom cabinet types based on your project needs.
Frameless Cabinets-Euro
Frameless Cabinets have a clean, modern construction without a front face frame. Doors and drawer fronts attach directly to the cabinet box, creating a sleek appearance with tighter reveals and efficient use of interior space.
This is our primary construction method at Pro-Tech Woodworking. We build frameless cabinet boxes from 3/4" natural birch plywood, creating a strong, durable, and clean cabinet structure. Interior areas remain natural plywood, while exterior doors, drawer fronts, side panels, and finished panels can be completed in the project-selected material and color.
Exterior finish options may include painted finish, TFL, HPL, wood veneer, Shinnoki panels, solid wood, or other custom materials, depending on the design requirements.
Frameless cabinetry is commonly used for modern, contemporary, transitional, and European-style interiors.
Inset Cabinets
Inset Cabinets are a premium cabinet construction style where the doors and drawer fronts sit flush inside the face frame. This creates a refined, furniture-style appearance with clean lines, precise reveals, and a high level of craftsmanship.
The cabinet box is built from 3/4" natural birch plywood for strength and long-term durability. The face frame is made from solid wood, while doors, drawer fronts, side panels, and finished panels are typically completed in the project-selected finish, such as painted finish, stained wood, solid wood, or wood veneer.
Inset cabinetry requires more detailed construction, accurate alignment, and careful installation, making it one of the most custom and premium cabinet styles. It is commonly used for high-end traditional, transitional, farmhouse, and furniture-inspired interiors.
Face Frame Cabinets
Face Frame Cabinets have a solid wood frame attached to the front of the cabinet box. Doors and drawers are mounted to or over this frame, creating a more traditional American cabinet look.
The cabinet box is built from 3/4" natural birch plywood for strength and long-term durability. The face frame is made from solid wood, while doors, drawer fronts, side panels, and finished panels can be completed in the project-selected finish, such as painted finish, stained wood, solid wood, or wood veneer.
This construction style is commonly used for classic, transitional, farmhouse, and traditional interiors.
Drawer Box
Our drawer boxes are built from 5/8" natural birch plywood using a blind dado construction method. This joinery creates a strong, clean, and reliable drawer box by allowing the drawer sides and bottom to fit securely into concealed grooves, improving alignment and long-term durability.
Each drawer box is designed for everyday use and paired with undermount soft-close slides, providing smooth operation, quiet closing, and a clean look with hidden hardware.
